Postdoc, PhD Chandana Nissanka
I recently joined to the Evofish group at the Department of Biology, University of Bergen and presently working with the winter survey fisheries data from Barents Sea collected by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Bergen during last 28 years.
I obtained my first degree in 1995 in the field of Zoology from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Then joined to the Ministry of Fisheries as a Fishery Biologist and then to the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) as an Aquaculturist. I started to follow my PhD with a grant from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) in 1998. The title of the thesis was “Empirical models for fish yield prediction in selected reservoirs in the dry zone of Sri Lanka”. After finishing my PhD, I joined to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences & Technology, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka as a Senior Lecturer in 2001 and worked there until October 2008.
