BackgroundEvoFish came to existence through the Recruitment Programme of the Bergen Research Foundation, which in February 2007 announced that the new research group EvoFish, with Mikko Heino as its leader, was among the projects to be funded. Through joint funding with the Department of Biology, we are receiving 4 million NOK annually for four years to run the research group. EvoFish formally launched its activities on November 1st, 2007. In addition to the funding from the Bergen Research Foundation and Department of Biology, we also have projects funded through the Norwegian Research Council and the European Commission and hosted by University of Bergen and/or Institute of Marine Research (see 'Projects' on the right). Most of EvoFish members are affiliated with both University of Bergen and Institute of Marine Research, facilitating good contacts with these institutions. In terms of office space, all EvoFish members are now located together at the Department of Biology at the High Technology Centre in Thormøhlensgate 55, Bergen.
